Preakness Valley Golf Course well closed for structural concerns

The drinking water well at the Passaic County golf course in Wayne was closed late last year due to structural and safety concerns, said county officials.

The water source, located on the Preakness Valley Golf Course on Totowa Road, was closed late in December 2016 due to issues with the pump that draws water from the well, according to information from the county’s public information office.

As county officials were dealing with the pump, they discovered the standalone building surrounding the well was deteriorating and deemed to be structurally unsafe. No repairs timeline has been set, officials said. According to he county’s website for the golf course, the well is “temporarily closed until further notice.”
