PSBC launches $8.1bn Hong Kong IPO

©Bloomberg Postal Savings Bank of China has launched the biggest initial public offering since the record float of Alibaba two years ago, in a deal that could raise up to $8.1bn in Hong Kong. The float values the bank, formed in 2007 and boasting 505m retail customers, at between $49bn and $54bn — well above the $41bn implied by a $7bn funding round in December from a blue-chip group including JPMorgan, Singapore’s Temasek, the payment arm of Alibaba as well as Tencent, its ecommerce rival.
